  • Château de l'Étoile in the Jura: A Winery with an Unmistakable Style

    by Marco Fuchs

The Château de l’Étoile is located in the French Jura, a small wine region between Burgundy and the Swiss border. The winery is situated in the L'Étoile appellation near Lons-le-Saunier and stands for characterful wines that clearly reflect their origin.

    Wine from the L'Étoile Appellation

The name L'Étoile translates to "the star". The vineyards are characterized by limestone and marl, ideal conditions for the most important grape varieties of the winery: Chardonnay and Savagni. Instead of producing the heaviest possible wines, Château de l’Étoile focuses on freshness, minerality, and a natural expression of the terroir.

    Chardonnay, Savagnin, and Vin Jaune

Chardonnay here is fresh, elegant, and mineral, while Savagnin is usually spicier and more powerful. The great specialty of the Jura is Vin Jaune. This exceptional wine made from Savagnin ages for several years in barrels, developing intense aromas of nuts and spices. It is one of the most distinctive wine styles in France.

Château de l’Étoile in the Glass

The wines of Château de l’Étoile are particularly exciting for wine lovers who want to discover something new beyond the well-known French classics. They pair especially well with regional cuisine: Vin Jaune and aged Comté, for example, are a classic combination.

Selected wines from Château de l’Étoile can be foundHERE on our website.
