Germany is a white wine country; only in Ahr Valley does this memo seem not to have arrived. This small region with a mild climate, little rainfall, and loess-rich soils near the river of the same name is known for its red wines, above all Pinot Noir, which can excellently showcase its strengths here. Besides Pinot Noir, there are only a few other grape varieties from the region, including Blauer Portugieser and Riesling.
