Burgenland is Austria's smallest state in terms of area and its flattest elevation. At the same time, it is also a fascinating wine region steeped in tradition. Over 2,000 hours of sunshine, combined with the unique microclimate of Lake Neusiedl, allow for the cultivation of intense, spicy, world-class Blaufränkisch wines between Seewinkel and Eisenberg, as well as the Austrian red wine starlet, Zweigelt – in addition to a number of surprising white wine varieties that round out the richness of the terroir.
