Rose wine
Rosé wine describes wines made from red grapes vinified like white wines – that is, with very little contact with the skins. This results in wines that tend to be lighter, fresh, and fruity, perfect for enjoying on a summer afternoon on the balcony. Long considered a way to use up unripe red grapes, rosé wines have now become a staple in every winemaker's portfolio across Europe. High-quality rosé is particularly ubiquitous in Provence, but local winemakers in German-speaking countries are also making a name for themselves with their rosés.
