Description
The Enkircher Steffensberg Riesling 2024 from Weiser-Künstler is a dry Mosel Riesling with impressive depth and a distinct slate-driven personality. Old vines on the steep slopes of the Steffensberg produce a wine where minerality, spice, and tension are at the forefront, rather than opulent fruit.
In the glass, the 2024 vintage initially appears cool and focused. Citrus fruits and light stone fruit meet floral notes, fresh herbs, and a pronounced stony aroma. With a little air, the wine increasingly opens up and gains depth and texture.
On the palate, it presents itself as dry and concentrated, yet surprisingly nimble. A lively acidity provides energy, while the slate minerality gives the wine a spicy and slightly salty edge. Compared to particularly lean Mosel Rieslings, the Steffensberg has a bit more substance and pressure on the palate without appearing heavy. The finish is long, precise, and characterized by mineral and herbal nuances.
