Position

The Gamlitz wine region is characterized by its gently rolling landscape with steep vineyards and sandy and gravelly soils interspersed with pebbles and calcareous marl. The vineyards lie at altitudes of 320 to 550 meters and benefit from warm, bowl-shaped slopes and cool hillsides. The wines, especially Sauvignon Blanc and Welschriesling, display ripe fruit aromas, delicate vegetal notes, and a refined acidity.

 

Grape varieties

Pinot Gris from Styria impresses with its soft texture, powerful body, and good aging potential, while also exhibiting pronounced spice and/or slate aromas. It is usually one of the most robust white wines from Styrian wineries.
