Description
While Meursault is world-famous for Chardonnay, the appellation's few red wines often possess a unique character: finer, lighter, and more elegant than many Pinot Noirs from the Côte de Nuits. The 2022 Meursault Rouge from Domaine Jean-Marie Bouzereau perfectly showcases this rare and very Burgundian style. The limestone and marl-rich soils lend the wine a cool minerality and a precise, silky structure.
The 2022 vintage appears open and harmonious, yet surprisingly delicate and focused. This Pinot Noir combines juicy red fruit with subtle spice and a lively freshness, without ever appearing heavy or overripe. Instead of striving for concentration or power, Bouzereau deliberately prioritizes balance, elegance, and transparency. It is precisely this calm and delicate character that makes the wine particularly exciting.
The oak aging remains subtle and excellently integrated, ensuring that the terroir and vintage are clearly in focus. As a result, the Meursault Rouge displays a very classic Burgundian style – silky, mineral, and with a long, elegant finish.
