Description
"Santenots" is one of Volnay's more powerful Premier Cru sites, combining the appellation's typical elegance with more depth and structure. The limestone and clay-rich soils give the Pinot Noir a fine mineral tension and a very precise, silky structure. Domaine Jean-Marie Bouzereau consciously interprets the site in a classic style with plenty of Burgundian finesse.
In 2021, the wine presents itself with particular transparency and delicate definition. The cool vintage brings a lot of freshness, vibrant tension, and an almost ethereal elegance. Instead of concentration or heavy extraction, "Santenots" clearly focuses on balance, precision, and a calm, terroir-driven style. It is precisely this combination of depth and finesse that makes the wine so characterful.
The oak aging remains subtle and exceptionally well-integrated, ensuring that origin and vintage are uncompromisingly in focus. As a result, the Volnay Premier Cru displays a very classic Burgundian style – silky, mineral, and with a long, elegant finish.
