Position
Pfalz-Weißburgunder is the clean and elegant all-rounder: delicate fruit (apple, pear, quince), often a slightly nutty touch, and a fresh, refined acidity. Thanks to the abundant sunlight in the Palatinate region, it usually tastes particularly well-balanced – easy to drink, but never boring.
Grape varieties
Simply put, Muschelkalk (shell limestone) is rock made from the fossilized remains of prehistoric marine life – in the case of Birkweiler, from the Triassic period. In winemaking terms, this often translates to: clear lines, a mineral character, and an acidity that feels "finely integrated" because limestone can buffer acidity.
