Description
The Pössnitzberg is one of the great Chardonnay sites in Southern Styria and is considered one of the coolest and most mineral-rich origins in the region. The old vines on the lime-rich soils give the wine enormous depth and an exceptionally precise structure. As a Grosse STK Lage (GSTK), the Pössnitzberg stands for the highest quality of origin and great aging potential.
The 2022 vintage shows the Chardonnay as particularly calm and focused. Despite its concentration, the wine never appears broad, but rather taut, elegant, and almost Burgundian in its style. The careful aging in wooden barrels supports the depth and complexity without masking the mineral origin of the site.
Erwin Sabathi consistently focuses on a restrained and terroir-driven vinification. As a result, Pössnitzberg emphasizes tension, minerality, and structure rather than opulent fruit. An exceptionally precise Chardonnay with great elegance and long development potential.
