Position

The Wachau is a spectacular wine-growing region along the Danube, with steep terraced vineyards and legendary white wines. On 1,350 hectares, the two grape varieties Grüner Veltliner and Riesling dominate in what is perhaps Austria's most famous wine region – classified into three styles: the light, fruity Steinfeder, the balanced Federspiel, and the powerful and complex Smaragd.

Grape varieties

Grüner Veltliner is Austria's most widely cultivated grape variety – accounting for almost a third of the country's total vineyard area. Wachau interpretations impress with peppery spice notes, fruity clarity, and pronounced minerality. The steep gneiss and loess slopes lend structure and vibrancy. Versatile on the palate and a brilliant match for food pairings – a true Wachau classic.
