"La Landonne" is one of the most monumental and renowned sites in Côte-Rôtie. The steep, slate-rich slopes give the Syrah immense depth, striking mineral tension, and an exceptionally precise structure. Xavier Gérard interprets this iconic site in a deliberately classic and terroir-driven way – focusing on balance, transparency, and aristocratic elegance rather than mere power.
The 2022 vintage is more generous and open than the tauter 2021, yet remains incredibly focused and harmoniously structured. The Syrah combines ripe dark fruit with fine spice, smoky nuances, and a silky, powerful tannin structure. Despite its monumental concentration, "La Landonne" never appears heavy or massive, but rather very serene and precisely drawn. It is precisely this combination of Rhône power and ethereal elegance that makes the 2022 particularly fascinating.
