"L'Arbuel" 2023 showcases Xavier Gérard's particularly precise and elegant interpretation of Condrieu. The steep, granite-rich slopes impart a striking mineral tension and an exceptionally clear structure to the Viognier. Gérard consciously adopts a restrained, terroir-driven approach, which makes the wine incredibly transparent and delicate despite its aromatic intensity.
The 2023 vintage appears vibrant and energetic, yet incredibly harmoniously structured. The Viognier combines expressive aromatics with fresh minerality and a silky, elegant texture. Instead of heavy opulence or dominant breadth, "L'Arbuel" clearly focuses on balance, tension, and Rhône-typical finesse. This combination of aromatic depth and precise freshness is what gives the wine its particular character.
The aging process remains subtle and excellently integrated, ensuring that origin, grape variety, and vintage are uncompromisingly at the forefront. As a result, this Condrieu displays a very classic Rhône style – mineral, elegant, with a long, subtly spicy finish and great aging potential.
