Description
The Kastanienbusch Köppel is one of the most exciting Pinot Noir sites in the Southern Palatinate. The steep slopes with their red slate and variegated sandstone soils give the wine a distinctive mineral tension and a very individual, almost cool style. Dr. Wehrheim consciously interprets the site with finesse and precision rather than power.
In 2022, the Spätburgunder is incredibly clear and elegant. The wine appears silky and profound at the same time, with delicate spice, cool freshness, and a very precise structure. Instead of opulent fruit or strong extraction, the Köppel GG clearly focuses on finesse, tension, and Burgundian serenity.
The aging in wooden barrels remains subtle and perfectly integrated, which significantly enhances the wine's depth without losing its transparency. As a result, the Kastanienbusch Köppel GG appears very terroir-driven and characterful – mineral, refined, and with a long, silky finish.
