"Coteau de Vernon" is one of the largest and most iconic white wine sites in the Rhône and forms the heart of Domaine Georges Vernay. The extremely steep granite terraces lend the Viognier extraordinary mineral tension, enormous depth, and an almost ethereal elegance. Georges Vernay interprets this legendary site with an uncompromising focus on terroir – emphasizing precision, balance, and aristocratic finesse rather than mere opulence.
The 2022 vintage is somewhat more generous and open than the tauter 2021, yet remains incredibly focused and harmoniously structured. The Viognier combines intense aromatic depth with crystalline freshness and a silky, highly precise structure. Despite its monumental concentration, the wine never appears heavy or broad, but rather very calm and elegantly drawn. It is precisely this combination of Rhône warmth, salty minerality, and ethereal finesse that makes the 2022 so particularly fascinating.
