"Es Chezots" showcases Marsannay's elegant yet structured side particularly impressively. The lime and clay-rich soils give the Pinot Noir a fine mineral tension and a precise, terroir-driven style. Jean Fournier works deliberately puristically and with minimal intervention, making the wine appear very transparent and lively.
The 2023 vintage is open and energetic, yet incredibly calm and harmoniously structured. The Pinot Noir combines juicy red fruit with subtle spice and a silky, fresh structure. Instead of massive extraction or pure power, "Es Chezots" clearly focuses on balance, precision, and Burgundian finesse. It is precisely this combination of freshness and depth that makes the wine particularly characterful.
The aging process remains subtle and excellently integrated, ensuring that origin and vintage are uncompromisingly in the spotlight. As a result, the Marsannay rouge exhibits a very classic Côte de Nuits style – mineral, silky, and with a long, elegant finish.
