"Les Gâts" is one of the most characterful dry Chenin Blanc wines of the Loire and impressively demonstrates the great aging potential of this grape variety. The slate and volcanic soils of Anjou give the wine a striking mineral tension and exceptional depth. Patrick Baudouin works uncompromisingly in a terroir-driven and natural way, making the origin and vintage appear particularly transparent and unadulterated.
The 2007 vintage presents itself beautifully matured and at the same time astonishingly lively today. The Chenin Blanc combines depth and complexity with a precise acid structure and an almost salty minerality. Instead of opulent fruit or broad richness, "Les Gâts" clearly focuses on tension, elegance, and a calm, aristocratic maturity. It is precisely this combination of mature complexity and vibrant freshness that makes the wine so fascinating.
The winemaking is deliberately restrained, so that the origin and aging development are uncompromisingly in focus. As a result, the Anjou blanc shows a great Loire style - mineral, profound, with a long, salty-elegant finish and exceptional aging potential.
