"Les Zersilles" from Quarts de Chaume is one of the great sweet Chenin Blanc wines of the Loire, impressively showcasing the exceptional combination of concentration, minerality, and freshness. The slate-rich soils impart a distinctive saline tension and enormous depth to the wine, while Patrick Baudouin interprets the site uncompromisingly with a focus on terroir and natural methods. As a result, the wine appears incredibly precise and transparent despite its sweetness.
The 2017 vintage is harmonious and at the same time incredibly energetic. The natural concentration of Chenin Blanc combines with vibrant acidity and an almost crystalline minerality. Instead of heavy opulence or pure sweetness, "Les Zersilles" clearly focuses on balance, tension, and aristocratic elegance. This very combination of ripe intensity and saline freshness makes the wine particularly captivating.
