"Vauprin" particularly clearly showcases Roland Lavantureux's elegant yet highly precise winemaking style. The Kimmeridgian limestone soils around Chablis impart a striking saline minerality and a fresh, linear structure to the Chardonnay. Lavantureux consciously works in a terroir-driven and restrained manner, which makes the wine appear very transparent and lively.
The 2023 vintage is open and energetic, yet incredibly harmonious and focused in its structure. The Chardonnay combines delicate freshness with subtle spice and a clear, chalky tension. Instead of opulent fruit or creamy development, "Vauprin" clearly prioritizes balance, minerality, and classic Chablis character. It is precisely this combination of freshness and precision that gives the wine its distinctive character.
The aging process remains deliberately understated, ensuring that the origin and vintage take center stage without compromise. As a result, this Chablis exhibits a very classic style – mineral, elegant, and with a long, salty-fresh finish.
