Description

Ried Wielitsch is one of the most exciting Sauvignon Blanc sites in Southern Styria. The steep, lime-rich slopes on the border with Slovenia produce wines of enormous precision, cool minerality, and great tension. It is precisely the interplay of high altitude and lean soil that gives the site its unique character.

The 2022 vintage yielded exceptionally clear and long-lived wines. As a Reserve, the Sauvignon Blanc shows significantly more depth and structure, yet remains taut and elegantly constructed. Instead of expressive aromatics, Gallunder deliberately focuses on calm, minerality, and a very focused style.

The careful vinification lends the wine additional complexity and length without masking the origin of the site. As a result, the Ried Wielitsch Reserve appears very precise, mineral, and almost Burgundian in its elegance with great development potential.
