"La Maladière" is one of Santenay's characterful Premier Cru sites, combining the typical structure of the southern Côte de Beaune with surprising elegance and freshness. The chalky and clay-rich soils give the Pinot Noir a fine mineral tension and a precise, terroir-driven style. Noblet-Gauthier consciously interprets the site in a classic and transparent way – focusing on balance and Burgundian finesse rather than pure power.
The 2023 Premier Cru is open and energetic, yet incredibly harmonious and calmly structured. The Pinot Noir combines juicy red and darker fruit with subtle spice and a silky, fresh structure. Despite its depth, the wine never appears heavy or massive, but rather very clear and elegantly drawn. It is precisely this combination of Santenay character and fine lines that makes "La Maladière" particularly distinctive.
The aging remains discreet and excellently integrated, so that origin and vintage are uncompromisingly in the spotlight. As a result, the Santenay Premier Cru shows a very classic Côte de Beaune style – mineral, silky, and with a long, elegant finish.
