Position
The plot "Rothenpfad" (above the railway viaduct opposite Pünderich) is a sub-area within the current Marienburg vineyard. The soil here is very light and consists of very soft, weathered red clay slate. The exceptionally steep terrain lacks access roads, prohibiting the use of machinery. For the vines, this means there is no compaction from heavy equipment, providing ideal conditions for healthy root growth.
Grape varieties
Riesling is a top-tier white wine celebrated for its versatility and elegance. It typically exhibits an aromatic bouquet of fresh citrus fruits like lemon, grapefruit, and green apple, accompanied by floral notes such as jasmine or lilac. On the palate, it is lively and refreshing, with vibrant acidity that accentuates its fruity flavors. A defining characteristic of Riesling is its ability to express terroir and origin, resulting in a wide range of tastes from dry to sweet. Dry Rieslings are crisp and mineral-driven, while sweet Rieslings showcase an impressive balance between sweetness and acidity. Overall, Riesling is a refreshing and expressive wine that pairs well with a variety of dishes and ranks among the world's finest white wines.
