"Bellevue" is one of the most distinctive sites in Savennières and showcases Chenin Blanc in its particularly precise and mineral form. The slate-rich soils impart a striking salty tension and a taut, terroir-driven structure to the wine. Patrick Baudouin works uncompromisingly close to nature and with minimal intervention, making the origin and vintage exceptionally transparent.
The 2021 vintage is cool, focused, and incredibly precise. It brings a lot of freshness and an almost crystalline tension, making the wine appear particularly linear and elegant. Instead of opulent ripeness or broad richness, "Bellevue" clearly emphasizes minerality, energy, and an almost aristocratic serenity. This combination of vibrant freshness and deep structure is precisely what makes the wine so fascinating.
The winemaking is deliberately restrained so that the origin and vintage remain uncompromisingly in focus. As a result, this Savennières exhibits a grand Loire style – mineral, profound, with a long, salty-elegant finish and exceptional aging potential.
