The vineyards of Domaine Georges Vernay are planted on diverse soils, which influence the characteristic qualities of the wines. In the Condrieu appellation, the soils are predominantly granitic, imparting a mineral structure and finesse to the wines. In the Côte-Rôtie appellation, the soils are varied, ranging from granite and schist to clay and sand.
Coteau de Vernon is a wine of great complexity yet extreme elegance, offering one of the finest expressions of Viognier's subtlety. This Condrieu, unique among Condrieus, the heart of the appellation and the estate, offers, depending on the vintage, aromas of yellow fruits, fresh or candied citrus fruits, and exotic fruits, underscored by beautiful bitter notes.
Its balance is always perfect, with lots of freshness, herbal and menthol notes, white flowers and a very nice acidity.
