Griotte-Chambertin is one of the rarest and most elegant Grand Crus of the Côte de Nuits. Compared to the often more powerful Chambertin sites, Griotte particularly stands for finesse, silky texture, and an almost ethereal aroma. The calcareous and clay-rich soils give the Pinot Noir an exceptionally fine mineral tension and a great deal of Burgundian nobility. Domaine Fourrier interprets the site uncompromisingly puristically and terroir-driven – with a focus on transparency, precision, and elegance.
The 2023 Grand Cru is incredibly open and energetic, yet deeply structured and perfectly harmonious. The Pinot Noir combines fine red and darker fruit with subtle spice, silky structure, and vibrant freshness. Despite its concentration, the wine never seems heavy or massive, but almost weightless and incredibly precise. It is precisely this combination of Grand Cru depth and ethereal finesse that makes Griotte-Chambertin so fascinating.
The aging process remains deliberately minimalist and superbly integrated, ensuring that the origin and vintage remain uncompromisingly in focus. As a result, the Grand Cru displays a great Côte-de-Nuits style – mineral, silky, with a long, elegant finish and exceptional aging potential.
