Description
The Meursault "Les Vireuils" 2021 comes from a higher altitude site in Meursault. This origin expresses a somewhat cooler and tighter side of the appellation and forms an exciting counterpoint to the particularly full-bodied and opulent interpretations of Meursault. Chardonnay finds ideal conditions here to develop not only substance but also freshness and mineral tension.
Violot-Guillemard's aim in vinification is also to highlight the wine's origin. Oak should accompany the Chardonnay and give it structure, without masking the character of the site. The 2021 vintage, with its natural freshness, is particularly well suited to this approach.
This results in a Meursault where origin, craftsmanship and terroir are at the forefront: full of character and with the substance typical of Meursault, yet precise, fresh and elegant.
The Domaine Violot-Guillemard is a traditional family winery from Pommard, whose history dates back to the beginning of the 20th century. Today, the family tradition is continued by Joannès Violot-Guillemard. The focus is on an interpretation of the individual Burgundian terroirs that is as unadulterated as possible. The vineyards have been cultivated organically since 1999, and in the cellar too, the winery deliberately opts for restraint and few technical interventions.
