Description
Le Vieux Donjon's Châteauneuf-du-Pape blanc 2024 showcases the rare and particularly elegant white side of the appellation. Traditional Rhône grape varieties such as Clairette, Roussanne, Grenache Blanc, and Bourboulenc lend the wine depth, subtle spice, and remarkable freshness. The famous "galets roulés" (rolled pebbles) soils additionally provide mineral tension and a characteristic warmth.
The 2024 vintage presents itself as vibrant, precise, and incredibly harmoniously structured. The wine combines delicate ripeness with fresh minerality and a silky yet very clear structure. Instead of heavy opulence or dominant oak use, Le Vieux Donjon deliberately focuses on balance, elegance, and terroir-driven freshness. It is precisely this combination of southern depth and subtle tension that gives the wine its distinctive character.
The aging process remains restrained and excellently integrated, ensuring that origin, grape varieties, and vintage are uncompromisingly at the forefront. As a result, the Châteauneuf-du-Pape blanc displays a very classic Rhône style – mineral, elegant, and with a long, subtly spicy finish.
