Description
Les Petits Vougeots is a small Premier Cru from Vougeot with an exceptional neighborhood. The vineyard is located immediately north of Clos de Vougeot and borders some of the most important vineyards in this area of the Côte de Nuits in the direction of Chambolle-Musigny. This places it precisely between the more powerful character of Vougeot and the finer, more limestone-influenced style of Chambolle.
The soils are characterized by limestone, marl, and clay. Their good drainage and hillside location create excellent conditions for Pinot Noir with natural concentration and simultaneously mineral tension. Fourrier's interpretation of Les Petits Vougeots therefore relies less on massive power than on precision and texture – a Premier Cru that combines the structure of Vougeot with a remarkably fine side.
The 2024 vintage demanded particularly intensive work in the vineyard due to the humid growing season and high disease pressure. Yields were very low, and consistent selection of the grapes was crucial. The result is a rare Premier Cru with freshness, fine-grained structure, and clear Pinot Noir fruit, already revealing the elegance of the Fourrier signature, yet possessing enough depth for long bottle aging.
