Description
The Loibenberg is one of the most renowned and at the same time most powerful Riesling sites in the Wachau. The steep terraces above Loiben, with their barren primary rock soils and intense sun exposure, produce wines with great depth, mineral tension, and distinctive structure.
The 2024 vintage shows the Loibenberg to be astonishingly precise and elegant. Despite its concentration, the Riesling does not appear opulent, but rather clear, focused, and very finely structured. It is precisely the combination of ripe structure and cool minerality that gives the wine enormous tension and length.
Simon Gattinger opts for a reduced vinification process to allow the origin of the site to remain as unadulterated as possible. As a result, the wine exhibits a very modern Wachau style: powerful, mineral, and at the same time characterized by great elegance.
