Description
The Pinot Blanc Leithaberg DAC 2023 is one of the origin-expressive white wines from the Leo Hillinger winery in Jois. At Leithaberg, the warm Pannonian influences of Lake Neusiedl meet cooler air currents from the Leitha Mountains. This interplay allows the grapes to ripen well without losing freshness and tension – ideal conditions for a structured Pinot Blanc.
Particularly influential are the lime-rich soils of the Leithaberg. The high lime content and stony soil structure ensure a characteristic mineral focus. Pinot Blanc in particular benefits from these conditions, displaying less overt aromatics here, but instead more structure, a fine melt, and a clear, linear style.
The grapes come from organically cultivated vineyards and are carefully selected. During vinification, the focus is on the terroir: the aging process gives the wine additional texture and depth without masking its natural freshness or the fine character of the Pinot Blanc.
The 2023 vintage combines ripe fruit with the chalky tension typical of the Leithaberg. A characterful Pinot Blanc that relies not on loud aromatics, but on balance, structure, and mineral precision – versatile as a food pairing and with the potential for several years of bottle aging.
