Description
The Riesling Ellergrub “GE” 2024 Grand Cru from Weiser-Künstler is an exceptionally precise and profound Mosel Riesling from one of the winery's most important sites. The Enkircher Ellergrub is characterized by steep, old slate terraces and ungrafted vines – conditions that lend the wine a particularly distinctive and mineral character.
The 2024 vintage is less about opulent fruit and more about tension, structure, and origin. On the nose, citrus fruits and light stone fruit meet herbs, floral nuances, and a cool, smoky-stony spice. With some air, the wine opens up increasingly and gains significantly in aromatic depth.
On the palate, it appears taut and concentrated, yet remains fine and elegant. A lively acidity runs through the wine and is accompanied by an intense slate minerality. Salty, herbaceous, and slightly tart accents provide additional grip and lead to a long, precise finish. A Riesling with enormous tension and character, which is likely to gain significantly in complexity with some bottle aging.
