Jean-Baptiste Boudier's 2023 Pernand-Vergelesses blanc showcases the particularly fresh and mineral side of the Côte de Beaune. The calcareous high altitudes around Pernand give the Chardonnay a precise salty tension and an elegant, straightforward structure. Boudier consciously works in a terroir-driven and transparent manner, making the wine appear very clear and Burgundian.
The 2023 vintage is lively and energetic, yet incredibly harmonious and focused. The Chardonnay combines delicate freshness with subtle spice and a very precise chalky minerality. Instead of opulent creaminess or dominant oak influence, the wine clearly emphasizes balance, elegance, and tension. It is precisely this combination of freshness and depth that gives the Pernand-Vergelesses its distinctive character.
The oak aging remains subtle and exceptionally well-integrated, ensuring that the origin and vintage are uncompromisingly at the forefront. As a result, the Pernand-Vergelesses blanc exhibits a very classic Côte de Beaune style – mineral, elegant, and with a long, subtly salty finish.
