Description

"Le Mollard" showcases the particularly elegant yet profound side of Côte-Rôtie. The steep, slate-rich slopes lend the Syrah a striking mineral tension, floral finesse, and an exceptionally precise structure. Xavier Gérard consciously interprets the site in a classic, terroir-driven manner – with a focus on balance, transparency, and Burgundian elegance rather than pure power.

The 2022 vintage appears more open and generous than the tauter 2021, yet remains incredibly focused and harmoniously structured. The Syrah combines ripe dark fruit with fine spice, floral nuances, and a silky tannin structure. Despite its concentration, the wine never feels heavy or massive, but rather very calm and precisely drawn. It is precisely this combination of Rhône power and ethereal elegance that makes "Le Mollard" particularly fascinating.

The aging process remains subtle and excellently integrated, ensuring that origin and vintage take center stage without compromise. As a result, "Le Mollard" displays a grand Rhône style – mineral, spicy, with a long, silky finish and exceptional aging potential.
