Description
The Riesling "Auf der Mauer" from Deidesheim is a high-quality premium Riesling from the Palatinate, originating from the best vineyard sites around Deidesheim. The individual plots are located directly on the outskirts of the village and are situated on a small plateau supported by historic sandstone walls – hence the characteristic name "Auf der Mauer" (On the Wall). This special terroir lends the wine a distinctive structure and shapes its mineral expression.
For this Riesling single-vineyard cuvée from the Palatinate, the grapes were strictly selectively hand-picked and then vinified separately to optimally bring out the individual characteristics of each parcel. After 24 hours of sedimentation, the musts were partially fermented in traditional 1,200-liter wooden barrels and partially in stainless steel tanks. Fermentation took place with natural yeasts, which gives the wine additional depth and complexity. After fermentation, the base wines remained on the lees until shortly before bottling, further refining the structure and finesse.
On the nose, the Riesling "Auf der Mauer" shows typical Riesling fruit with fresh aromas of citrus, juicy peach, and mirabelle plum. On the palate, the wine convinces with clear fruit, lively acidity, and a juicy, animating texture that ensures high drinkability. The structure is complex and elegant at the same time, without being overbearing. In the finish, fine herbal-spicy nuances unfold, lending the wine a subtle, almost salty minerality and tension.
This versatile Riesling from Deidesheim is an ideal food companion and pairs excellently with Mediterranean cuisine, grilled fish, light meats with fresh herbs, and vegetarian dishes with lemon oil or fennel. A distinctive, well-balanced Riesling that harmoniously combines freshness, fruit, and minerality.
