Description
The Auxey-Duresses “Les Closeaux” 2024 holds special significance for the young domaine as it comes from the immediate vicinity of the winery. Auxey-Duresses is located west of Meursault in a side valley of the Côte de Beaune. The appellation combines the limestone-driven character of the Côte with a slightly cooler microclimate, thus offering excellent conditions for Pinot Noir with freshness, structure, and clear origin.
Les Closeaux is vinified as an independent parcel. Here, too, Pierre Vincent pursues his approach of emphasizing the vineyard as much as possible. Precise manual harvesting and selection, gentle extraction during fermentation, and restrained aging are intended to give the Pinot Noir structure without masking its fruit and the natural freshness of the terroir.
Especially in the demanding 2024 vintage, which in Burgundy was characterized by low yields and intensive work in the vineyard, the value of this careful working method becomes evident. The result is a characterful Auxey-Duresses that does not rely on massive power but on finesse, tension, and a precise expression of its origin.
With his own domaine in Auxey-Duresses, Pierre Vincent is transforming the experience gained from many years at renowned Burgundian wineries into a very personal project. After working at Domaine de la Vougeraie and Domaine Leflaive, he now focuses on a small vineyard area, which he cultivates with great attention to the soil, vine age, and the peculiarities of each individual parcel.
