Palatinate Riesling is often dry, but with real substance: aromas of peach or apple, a lively acidity on the palate, and depending on the soil, mineral notes ranging from flint to mineral. It also possesses that typical Palatinate balance – fresh, precise, yet refined.
The Kastanienbusch vineyard is situated in a sheltered, bowl-shaped location at the foot of the Hohenberg hill: partly steeply south-facing, warm during the day, noticeably cooler at night. A key detail: the diverse soil (including Rotliegend, weathered Bunter sandstone, and calcareous inclusions) – and this is precisely where this combination of power, spice, and depth often comes from.
