Position

Palatinate Riesling is often dry, but with real substance: aromas of peach or apple, a lively acidity on the palate, and depending on the soil, mineral notes ranging from flint to mineral. It also possesses that typical Palatinate balance – fresh, precise, yet refined.

Grape varieties

The Köppel vineyard, like its "clean cut" neighbor, is a dome-shaped hill, oriented south to east. Crucially, it's composed of Bunter sandstone, which stands in direct contrast to the Rotliegend soil of the adjacent chestnut grove. The resulting wines are often somewhat more straightforward, cooler, with more Stone wine influences and a more pronounced palate.

This is what Hannes says about the wine:Dr. Wehrheim – Riesling Kastanienbusch Köppel GG 2023

It feels like a sunny stroll: crystal clear, with peach and citrus notes, yet cool and controlled. Powerful and precise on the palate, but without exaggeration – perfect for those who love fresh Rieslings but also desire depth. A good accompaniment to seafood or Asian salads.
