Kollwentz's 2023 Chardonnay Neusatz hails from the calcium-rich slopes of the Leithaberg, one of Austria's most exciting Chardonnay origins. The combination of warm Pannonian climate and cool air currents from Lake Neusiedl gives the wine power, yet also remarkable freshness and precision.
The 2023 Neusatz is particularly clear and focused. The wine is taut and elegant, with great mineral tension and a quiet, almost Burgundian style. The subtle aging in oak barrels supports the structure and depth without obscuring the vineyard's origin.
For years, Kollwentz has pursued a very classic, terroir-driven style. As a result, the Chardonnay Neusatz emphasizes balance, structure, and longevity rather than opulent fruit. A very precise Chardonnay with great character and significant aging potential.
