The "Rothenpfad" plot (above the railway viaduct opposite Pünderich) is a section of the present-day Marienburg vineyard. The soil here is very light and based on very soft, weathered red clay slate. The particularly steep slope has no road access, so the use of machinery is impossible. This means that the vines are not compacted by heavy equipment, providing ideal conditions for healthy root growth.
Riesling is a first-class white wine known for its versatility and elegance. It is characterized by pronounced acidity, delicate fruit aromas, invigorating, light minerality, and outstanding aging potential. Thanks to the balanced climate, extensive steep slopes, and a veritable patchwork of soil types, the Mosel region in particular produces Riesling wines of the highest quality.
