Description
Marcel Lapierre's 2024 Morgon "Vieilles Vignes" showcases the particularly profound and terroir-driven side of Beaujolais. Old vines on Morgon's granite soils lend the Gamay exceptional concentration, mineral tension, and remarkable inner calm. Marcel Lapierre is considered one of the great pioneers of natural winemaking and interprets Morgon with uncompromising purity – focusing on transparency, energy, and origin.
The 2024 vintage presents itself as vibrant, precise, and surprisingly deep. The wine combines juicy red and darker fruit with floral nuances, fine spice, and a silky, highly precise structure. Despite its intensity, the Morgon never feels heavy or massive, but rather incredibly elegant and animating. It is precisely this combination of natural vibrancy, mineral freshness, and Burgundian finesse that makes the wine particularly fascinating.
The vinification remains deliberately minimalist and transparent, ensuring that the grape variety, origin, and vintage are uncompromisingly at the forefront. As a result, the Morgon Vieilles Vignes displays a grand Cru Beaujolais style – mineral, profound, with a long, subtly spicy finish and remarkable aging potential.
