Description
The Ried Dr. Wunsch vineyard is one of the most distinctive Riesling sites in Sausal. The extremely steep slate slopes around Kitzeck ensure a cool, mineral style with enormous tension and precision. It is precisely the combination of barren soil and high-altitude vineyards that gives the wine its clear, almost salty character.
The 2024 vintage is particularly focused and elegant. The Riesling appears taut and straightforward, yet profound and very harmoniously structured. Instead of expressive fruit, Wohlmuth deliberately emphasizes minerality, structure and a cool, terroir-driven style.
The reduced vinification emphasizes the origin of the site and makes the wine appear very puristic. As a result, the Ried Dr. Wunsch shows a lot of precision, fine tension and a long, mineral finish with great development potential.
