Description
The Gevrey-Chambertin “En Billard” 2024 comes from the eponymous Lieu-dit in the area of Brochon, immediately north of Gevrey-Chambertin. The plot lies within the Gevrey-Chambertin appellation and was planted with Pinot Noir in 1987. For Galeyrand, En Billard is one of his characteristic village sites and a good example of how differentiated the terroirs around Gevrey can be, even below the Premier Cru level.
The demanding 2024 vintage in Burgundy yielded small quantities and required particularly intensive work and selection in the vineyard. Galeyrand's precise approach benefits such a year: instead of defining the wine through extraction or heavy use of oak, freshness, clear fruit, and the natural structure of Pinot Noir are paramount.
Nevertheless, the 2024 En Billard shows remarkable concentration and depth. This wine beautifully combines two sides of Gevrey-Chambertin: the substance and structure typical of the appellation with the finer, energetic signature of Jérôme Galeyrand. A distinctive village Burgundy with character and very good aging potential.
