Description
Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey is one of the great historic estates of Sauternes and stands for a particularly elegant and precise style of noble sweet Bordeaux wines. The gravel and limestone soils and the proximity to the Ciron river create ideal conditions for Botrytis and lend the wine a remarkable freshness and tension despite its sweetness.
2013 is considered a very classic vintage in Sauternes with a lot of finesse and exceptional balance. The wine appears less opulent than warm years like 2009 or 2015, but incredibly clear, fine, and precise. Instead of massive concentration, Lafaurie-Peyraguey clearly focuses on elegance, freshness, and an almost ethereal lightness.
The noble sweet style shows a lot of depth and complexity, yet always remains harmonious and controlled. Fine spice, lively acidity, and a salty mineral freshness ensure a long, elegant finish. This makes the 2013 vintage classic, refined, and exceptionally long-lived.
