Description
The "Cuvée Saint-Urbain" showcases the particularly precise and mineral side of Marsannay blanc. The limestone-rich soils in the north of the Côte de Nuits give the Chardonnay a cool tension and a clear, straightforward structure. Jean Fournier works deliberately with a terroir-driven approach and very restrained aging, making the wine incredibly transparent and vibrant.
The 2023 vintage appears open and energetic, yet at the same time calm and harmoniously structured. The Chardonnay combines subtle ripeness with fresh minerality and a very precise, linear structure. Instead of opulent creaminess or dominant oak usage, the "Cuvée Saint-Urbain" clearly focuses on balance, freshness, and Burgundian finesse. It is precisely this combination of tension and elegance that gives the wine its distinctive character.
The aging remains subtle and excellently integrated, so that the origin and vintage are uncompromisingly in the spotlight. As a result, the Marsannay blanc displays a very classic Côte de Nuits style – mineral, elegant, and with a long, finely salty finish.
