Description
"Les Charmes" is one of the most elegant and, at the same time, charming Premier Cru sites in Meursault. The limestone and marl-rich soils lend the Chardonnay a fine mineral tension, while the site itself often appears somewhat more generous and silken than stricter Meursault terroirs. Domaine Jean-Marie Bouzereau consciously interprets the site in a classic and highly precise manner.
In 2023, the wine presents itself as particularly lively and open, with much freshness and an astonishingly clear structure. Despite its fine creaminess, the Premier Cru never appears heavy or broad, but rather very harmonious and focused. Instead of opulent power, Bouzereau clearly emphasizes balance, elegance, and a calm, terroir-driven style. It is precisely this combination of depth and lightness that makes "Les Charmes" so fascinating.
The aging in oak barrels remains subtle and excellently integrated, ensuring that origin and vintage are uncompromisingly at the forefront. As a result, the Meursault 1er Cru displays great Burgundian nobility – creamy, mineral, and with a long, elegant finish.
