Description
"Les Folatières" is one of the most distinguished Premier Cru sites in Puligny-Montrachet, standing almost uniquely for precision, minerality, and Burgundian elegance. The lime-rich soils impart an exceptionally fine tension to the Chardonnay and that almost hovering clarity which makes great Puligny wines so unmistakable. Jean-Marie Bouzereau interprets the site in a consciously classic and very terroir-driven manner.
The 2023 Premier Cru presents itself incredibly focused and full of energy. The wine appears delicate and precise, with much freshness and a remarkably clear structure. Instead of opulent creaminess or dominant wood, "Les Folatières" clearly emphasizes limestone minerality, balance, and elegant depth. It is precisely this combination of tension and calm that makes the wine particularly impressive.
The aging in oak barrels remains subtle and excellently integrated, ensuring that origin and vintage take uncompromising center stage. As a result, the Puligny-Montrachet Premier Cru displays a very classic Côte-de-Beaune style – mineral, precise, and with a long, saline-elegant finish.
