Description
“La Champine” blanc shows the particularly fresh and elegant side of Viognier. Jean-Michel Gerin deliberately interprets the grape variety with precision and a strong sense of terroir – far from excessive opulence or heavy aromatics. The granite-influenced soils of the northern Rhône lend the wine a fine mineral tension and a clear, lively structure.
The 2023 vintage is open, aromatic, and incredibly harmoniously structured. The Viognier combines expressive fruit and floral nuances with fresh minerality and a silky, elegant texture. Instead of broad richness or dominant heaviness, “La Champine” clearly focuses on balance, drinkability, and Rhône-typical finesse. It is precisely this combination of aromatic expressiveness and precise freshness that makes the wine particularly charming and versatile.
The aging process remains deliberately subtle and excellently integrated, so that the grape variety, origin, and vintage are uncompromisingly in the spotlight. As a result, “La Champine” displays a modern yet classic Rhône style – mineral, elegant, and with a long, subtly spicy finish.
