Description
Ried Jägerberg is one of the highest and coolest sites around Leutschach. The lime-rich soils and the special microclimate lend the Pinot Gris an exceptionally precise and elegant style. As a 1STK site, Jägerberg stands for clear origin character and a strong terroir-driven signature.
The 2023 vintage is very fine and focused. Despite its depth, the wine appears taut and calmly structured, with much mineral tension and an almost salty freshness. Instead of broad power, Erwin Sabathi deliberately focuses on elegance, structure, and balance.
The reduced vinification emphasizes the site's origin and lends the Pinot Gris a modern, almost Burgundian style. As a result, the wine shows much finesse, mineral depth, and a long, harmonious finish.
