Description
The Ried Poharnig is one of the most precise Sauvignon Blanc sites around Leutschach. The calcareous soils, the steep slopes, and the cool microclimate ensure a clear, mineral style with great tension and elegance. As a 1STK site, the Poharnig stands for a distinct character of origin and a particularly terroir-driven signature.
The 2024 vintage presents itself as very focused and finely structured. The wine appears taut and straightforward, with cool minerality and plenty of freshness. Instead of loud aromatics, Erwin Sabathi deliberately focuses on precision, balance, and depth.
Due to the reduced vinification, the characteristic of the site remains clearly in the foreground. This gives the Sauvignon Blanc a modern South Styrian style – elegant, mineral, and with a long, exciting finish.
