The "Les Sablons" 1er Cru 2020 follows this approach as a single-vineyard bottling. The name already alludes to the special character of the terroir: "Sablons" refers to sandy soils, which differ from the predominantly chalky formations found in many parts of Champagne. For Allouchery, the individual plot is not just an indication of origin, but the actual starting point for the wine's style.
The 2020 vintage is also consciously understood as part of this origin. Instead of blending different harvests to achieve a consistent taste profile, the character of a single year is allowed to remain visible. The longer bottle aging on the lees then gives the Champagne time to develop additional depth and a finer texture.
